Welcome to First Impulse Theatre!
We’ve all heard the phrase “New and Exciting.” And usually it’s a turn-off. This time it’s different.
First Impulse is new and what’s exciting is First Impulse Theatre leading the vanguard to bring comedy with an evocative and playful message to Santa Barbara.
We believe that theatre should be fun for everyone: the audience, the actors, the technicians, even the volunteers. We organized to create an artistic community, to attract the non-traditional audience, to seek the spirited adventurer.
Our founder and Artistic Director is William York Hyde.
William has been in Southern California almost ten years. He was a member of the American Renegade Theater Company in Los Angeles. While in Santa Barbara he performed at the Garvin, the Jurkowitz, the Lobero, at Center Stage and around town.
Before that he lived in New York, did plays, even Broadway.
Before that he was a member of one of America’s premier avant-garde feminist theatre companies: the Omaha Magic Theatre. Before that he helped found two different theatre companies in Omaha. And even before that he studied a bit at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Theatre Dept.
On stage, film, TV, and radio, as an actor, director, writer, producer, or technician, William has been involved in almost 100 productions. That’s a lot of plays and a lot of dedication to theatre.
So, we need your help. We’re asking you to help support this new theatre company for Santa Barbara. Since First Impulse is under the umbrella of the Non-Profit Victoria Hall Theatre Foundation your donation is tax deductible.
